Our Beautiful Daughter, Olivia

Our Handsom Little Man, Carter
"Yesterday is experience, tomorrow is hope... today is getting from one to the other!"
I know that it has been awhile since we have updated everyone on the babies progress, but things have been very difficult for mitch and I this past week. The babies were born last Tuesday afternoon at 12:38 and 12:40 pm. My platelet count had been dropping every day and when it reached 129 the doctor gave me no choice but to deliver. We were given the choice to have an immediate emergency c-section, or we could try to have the babies induced for 24 hours. My OB doc didn't believe that 24 hours would be enough time to have them both, so we chose to go ahead with the c-section. They were both born 4 pounds, 2 ounces. Olivia was 17.5 inches, and Carter was 17 inches. Both babies needed to be placed on a C-Pap to help with their breathing, so mitch and I were not able to see them for very long after delivery. Mitch went with the babies to the NICU, and kept me informed on what their progress was while I was in recovery. He is such an amazing husband and father! Carter and Olivia were both off their C-pap's within 48 hours, and then placed on a nasal canula. Again, they continued to strive, and currently are breathing completly on their own! Both babies have feeding tubes and each day holding down more milk! Though they are losing weight, they continue to show us progress. Though we know that our journey is far from over, we continue to turn to God, Family, and Friends to push through to the next day. My prayers have been answered throughout my pregnancy and I am at peace knowing that my children are in the hands of God, the NICU staff, and whenever possible reunited in the hands of their mommy and daddy. We will continue to keep everyone updated on their progress and please continue to keep Carter and Olivia close to your hearts and in your prayers. Attached are a few of their photos...Enjoy!
